Snoqualmie Falls Photographs

Last Monday I went with a friend to take pictures at Snoqualmie Falls.  We had lots of fun taking pictures, and seeing how beautiful the waterfall was at this time of year.  Yes it was cold, but we managed.  It also didn’t rain while we were there, which is a plus for this area in the Northwest.

We were doing an assignment for a photography class that we are taking.  The assignment was to put our camera on shutter speed priority, then take two pictures.  One of the pictures we were to take at the fastest shutter speed we could, and the other picture we were to take at the slowest shutter speed we could.  After that, I just started taking pictures at the shutter speed that I liked the most, which was 1/60 of a second.  My slowest was 1 second, and the fastest was at 1/4000 of a second.  I saw quite a difference in the pictures.  The picture just above was taken at shutter speed of 1/100 of a second with an aperture of f10, a focal length of 46mm, and an ISO of 200.  I did edit it, but didn’t have to do much.

The picture above was taken at the fastest shutter speed that my camera would allow, 1/4000 of a second, and I had to edit for exposure, and contrast quite a bit because it was very under exposed. The camera set the aperture at f 5.3, I set the focal length at 45mm, and the ISO was set at 200It did turn out pretty good though.  I love it.

I took the picture above using the slowest shutter speed my camera would allow, 1 second, and no amount of editing could make this picture look any better.  It is quite over exposed, and I don’t really like it much. The camera set the aperture at f 36, I set the focal length at 46mm, and the ISO was set to 200.  But, for the sake of the assignment, I kept the picture.

one sixth of a second

So I took the picture above at 1/6 of a second, and I like the way the water looks.  The camera set the aperture at f 36, the focal length I set at 46mm, and the ISO was set at 200.  This was one of the better pictures, except for the stuff in the foreground.

All in all, I totally enjoyed this assignment quite a lot.  I learned quite a bit also.  I am looking forward to doing the next assignment which is on the ISO setting.  I will let you know how that one turns out.
